It’s Raining Cats and Dogs…..

...

It’s been raining all day today…It’s funny the effect it has on our Bulldog, Puddy…he absolutely despises going out in the rain. He gets to the front door and then just turns right around as soon as he sees a rain drop. He is so cute…he could literally sleep all day when it rains. Every time I stopped home for something he was in a new spot in the middle of a deep sleep…

Elena took pictures of him sleeping through out the day….

...

About my outfit….As you might of guessed the majority of my outfit is made by Ralph Lauren…from the plaid Newspaper boy hat right down to the umbrella…The only thing that isn’t Ralph is the denim button down shirt from The Jean Shop…Which I wore under a turtle neck sweater…I popped the shirt’s collar so you could see it peek through the neck of the turtle neck..I wore a Railroad coat from Ralph over the sweater…It was perfect for the weather…the rain rolled right off instead of soaking in…I also mixed in some brown with the belt and added my farm boots for a rugged edge….

Shabby Chic…..

...

Today’s look really suits my personality… I’m calling it Shabby Chic….The term Shabby Chic refers to a type of interior design style specializing in a rustic or worn feeling. The image I have, is of a piece of furniture that has been heavily painted through out the years with each layer showing through the distressed edges…Shabby chic is all about mixing patterns, layering heavily, and choosing the perfect vintage piece that pulls the look together…So why not apply it to fashion…I love clothes that say something about the era they were made in or inspired from….clothing that looks old but it’s still full of character. It doesn’t need to be genuinely vintage, you can find clothing that is vintage inspired, like the distressed jeans I am wearing…Read more about these jeans by viewing the post titeled “Distressed” and “5 day Denim Run”….

For the rest of today’s outfit I wore Ralph Lauren button down shirt that I purposly left untucked and without cufflinks….I layered it with a blue and black Double RL vest and a Purple label tie that I got on sale for $39, originally $239…SCORE!! When sporting a shirt with a cut away collar you want to make sure to tie a half windsor knot with your tie…It looks best with that type of collar!! This is my shabby chic look….Enjoy

Finding Inspiration….

....

Inspiration can come from anywhere….Art, Food, Fashion, but today for me it came from Music…I heard the song “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd and my mood was instantly altered…It’s weird how music can have that effect. It completely inspired my outfit choice…

I wore my Ralph Lauren flag jeans with a simple black thermal and a Polo military inspired wool coat….. I love the details on this coat, from the brass colored buttons to the  hints of  red…To amp the outfit up a bit, I wore a brown belt for contrast and tied a grey bandanna around my head. To finish I wore a simple pair of black Prada boots and Marc Jacob Aviators…..Enjoy

KIEHL’S is the best product I have found to groom myself with Small Tip. I only wash my hair once every 7 day’s. We need our natural oils to help our scalp and hair follicles shine. I use a dime size of KIEHL’s nourishing shampoo and it barely lathers, but does the trick.

JANE’S ADDICTION     The song JANE SAY”S was recorded at hollywood’s famous Sunset strip club THE ROXY in 1987. Music was influenced by Led Zeppelin and alot of self indulgent drug use. lead singer Perry Ferrell was always fascinated with the dark side of human psyche. I used to love this song when I was figuring it all out way back when..

DROP THIS TRACK and be Grateful we made Out of The 80′s and early 90′s.   What a Run!!!! lol

Back in Action………

....

Sorry about yesterday…We were traveling back to NJ and had no time for the blog….We made up for it today…Burberry meets Ralph Lauren, and a cool thrift shop…Elena found this cool hunting cap at a thrift shop in Western Mass for $8…I thought it was a steal….Elena has a great eye for a bargain…She built her outfit around the cap….The Burberry shawl is a classic cashmere collector’s piece..The green turtleneck and leather vest are made by Ralph Lauren, then added her Rugby Boyfriend jeans and a pair of black boots she picked up in Milan….and of course a classic Ralph Lauren belt…Her charcoal wool sweater she’s rockin over it all is also a Ralph piece…I love when my wife layers her clothing….oh yeah, don’t forget the 3/4 length wool brown patterned gloves….As you can tell by now, neutral colors work best when layering…The same goes for Men and Women….I hope you like this next run of photos…This is such a classic look that it will never go out of style….and Elena makes it look so Elegant!!!!…Enjoy

Dinner for Two……

...

Michael and I are still visiting with our families in our hometown in New England. My nieces and nephew called me this morning and asked if I would go over and bake cookies with them and their friends. Of course I couldn’t say no to them or the thought of decorating and eating fresh baked sugar cookies. …They were so cute when I arrived, they had their aprons on and the cookie cutters they wanted to use in their hands….Every year I bake them a fresh tin of decorated Christmas cookies for the holidays….I guess they couldn’t wait and wanted to get a head start….We had a great time picking out the colored sprinkles and drawing on the cookies with icing. I prefer my cookies plain with no frosting or sprinkles…..Here are the ones I snuck out for myself….

...

...

...

Later in the day I had to cook dinner for Michael and myself, but I wanted to make something simple and after a long day of baking I definitely didn’t want to go grocery shopping. So I also knew I was using what ever I could find in the house…I started with a simple salad of marinated artichokes and sliced tomatoes. I drizzled some aged balsamic, blue cheese and cold pressed olive oil over it and sprinkled with salt and fresh cracked pepper…..For the main course I made a quick pasta dish with a light cream sauce. We had some left over filet, asparagus,  and roasted red peppers…. While the spaghetti was cooking  I heated some olive oil in a large skillet and added chopped garlic, capers and sliced shallots, after they browned a bit I added about a 1/4 cup of light cream and some pasta water,(the starch in the water helps the sauce stick to the pasta) and let it simmer until it reduced. Since the filet, roasted reds, and asparagus were already cooked I added them last, just to heat them up. I also made sure the pasta was just under cooked when I removed it from the water so it could continue cooking in the sauce pan. When everything was in the same pan I added some Parmesan Reggiano and fresh cracked pepper and tossed it all together. I didn’t add any salt because the capers and the cheese are salty enough for my taste…If you want the exact recipe for the dinner or for the sugar cookies please feel free to email me at pudster@fashionfourmen.com

Enjoy….

STUFFED…………..

...

Not much to write about today. I’m working on 3 hrs sleep and overate yesterday!!!  ”Go Figure Right”   Elena, Myself, and Pudster enjoyed Thanksgiving Supper with Elena’s Family. They’re traditionally Italian, so I was full after all the appetizers.  From homemade suprasotta, The prosciutto stuffed olive’s, Mushrooms my my wife’s dad picks from his yard and pickles in cold pressed olive oil and jars. A traditional antipasto, and of coarse homemade cheese’s Elena’s relatives make from scratch in Italy and ship home here for us to enjoy. The list keeps going………Wonderful day to give thanks for all we have, and realize i’m blessed.   thank you GOD. I had to get up this morning @ 3am to drive my folks to the airport, then worked out for a solid 1 hr , showered, and off to work in the Berkshires. I finished my day around 4pm. My outfit I’m wearing is Rugged. It goes with the New England terrain.

Grey Vintage Non Pleated Trouser’s, “Pleats are long gone out of Style”  Put a Medium roll on them to accent my Shoe Boots. Added a Brown belt, and Buckled it over to the left side. Simple Flannel shirt, and added a Wool Hunting Vest. I detailed this get up with a pocket square in the right vest pocket, and a maroon B0w-Tie with Yellow skull & cross bones. Of course my Vintage Ivy Cap. you can find any one of these pieces at Double RL, Polo, or Rugby. Oh yeah……. I almost forgot, PUDSTER is Rockin Ralph today also. We bought him a Thanksgiving outfit at the children’s Ralph Lauren store. I had his sweater tailored to fit his body correctly. Puddy Rocks!! That’s it for today, I’m really tired. Enjoy this next run of photo’s and be grateful for all we have..

True To History…….

...

I really love stuff that stand the test of time.Especially clothing. I picked up this original Vintage 1920′s FARMER’S Work Jacket at the RRL Store on Bleeker St in NYC. After my purchase I thought of different outfits I was going to wear this rare piece with.I began thinking about the coat’s rightful owner.I have a real vivid imagination and came up with this story before I fell asleep after my day in the city……. I saw a man in 1925, he was 50 yrs old, lived on 5 acres of his own land he paid in full for. A small farm house sat at the top of his property, weathered but a real cozy feel. This man worked his property with his 4 boy’s 6 days a week 12 hrs a day. I visualized him wearing this coat day in and day out while he provided a good life for the people he loved. I saw him walking with his loving wife and 4 boy’s 3 miles every Sunday to church giving thanks for his simple, but totally fulfilled life. He was prouder than a peacock of his property and his family. He dressed for Sunday mass the way I’m dressed in this next run of photo’s. I put on my Schmidt overall’s, A charcoal 5 button up vest, added a Denim Blue collared shirt with White stripes, and buttoned my overall’s over the vest and shirt.I chose a Bow-Tie because they were primarily worn in the early 1900′s, and I enjoy wearing bow-tie’s. Then of coarse the  Vintage 1920′s farmer jacket. I also found a pair of 1950′s original vintage work boots, I added these babies to keep my “Sunday Best” true to my imagination of the man who made this coat what it is today.. hope you enjoy the next run of photo’s…..

Lombardi’s Pizza

Located at 32 Spring St

New York City, New York 10012

212-941-7994 (Little Italy)

1897 –  opened by Gennaro Lombardi
on 53 Spring St. down the street from it’s present location

1905- Lombardi’s was licensed by NYC becoming America’s first pizzeria.

They only serve pizza and a few simple salads. Wine list, full liquor, and beer on tap. There is lots of seating which can be hard to find in NYC. The pizza is thin crust like in the old country. Get this….  it’s one of the last coal burning ovens in NYC, the original oven is still used today.

The story goes, one of Gennaro’s employees named Antonio Pero began selling tomato pies wrapped in paper and tied with a string. They were such a success the Lombardi’s margarita pizza was born…..the rest is history. Elena and I had an opportunity to enjoy lunch at Lombardi’s last Sunday. The staff was pleasant and the crowd of pizza eaters were friendly. The reputation of these pies live up to our standards. The crust was paper thin, the cheese locally sourced from a cheese shop around the corner, which made it even better. The crushed San Marzano tomatoes tied this all in to a delicious afternoon. The best part of the dinning experience was meeting a young boy named David Letizia. He was an exchange student and came from the same region of Italy my wife is from. They actually spoke the same dialect of Italian and had a pleasant conversation about pizza and Italian tradition. You will see David and our experience at Lombardi’s in the next run of photos…..Enjoy!!!

The Dynamic Duo

...

We came across Ed, and Cindy in the East Village…I spotted Ed right away…I’m guessing 6’4″ 260 lbs. and he looked like he was all business. Cindy was standing by her bike and Ed was moving towards us with purpose….There’s an old saying, “Never Judge a Book by it’s Cover” He politely approached his wife and was enthusiastic to see she was making out well, and of course there pride and joy….these 2 little adorable dogs, dressed in killer vests with designer collars…I introduced myself to Edward and he greeted me with a smile. He was well spoken, gentle and totally cool with me snapping pictures of his two incredible pooches.  I asked Ed what time it was and by the look  of his Daytona Rolex, I realized that  Edward and Cindi traveled under the radar…Humble and no flash…What a pleasure to have met them…My kind of people…I actually thought the dogs were stuffed animals at first…Unfortunately I didn’t get their names so we’ll call them Dancer and Prancer for now…Wish Pudster could of made new friends but he didn’t make the trip to NYC with us….There’s no doubt you will enjoy this next run of photos….

More NYC faces to come tomorrow…..Enjoy!!!

GOOD SOUL………

...

Have you ever heard the expression”HE”S A GOOD SOUL” ??  My Mom said that allot about people she admired when we were growing up. I could hear her voice when I had the opportunity to meet Tom McCarthy……. Today’s Post has more to offer than cool Vintage Wingtips and off the Chain old school Ray-Ban’s. It’s about an “IRISH” Gentleman I befriended in NYC and he is definitely Worth bloggin about. I had done a previous post about a young man named Aaron Hill, You can read it under the title”Smoothed Out”. Long story short, Tommy Run’s a steak house on Park Ave. in NYC.. Aaron unbeknown to me had applied for a job with Tom. Unfortunately at the time there were no available positions for Aaron. Tommy had started following our blog by accident and happened to read my post on ” Smoothed out” which was  about how Aaron Hill made my day change for the better with  just  some simple conversation. Tom called Aaron, created a job for him and sent an E Mail to Pudster@fashionfourmen.com letting us know about how this wonderful experience unfolded.. I cannot tell you the satisfaction that entered my heart over all of this. One Man helping another and expecting nothing in return. Come to find out not only is Mr. Tommy an avid vintage shoe collector, He is a Newlywed. August 12, 2011 he married his beautiful wife Megan and there cool new journey begins…. Elena and I met the both of them for coffee and cupcakes @ Butter Lane in NYC..not a breakfast of champions but what the heck, every so often a little cupcake never hurt anyone!! I noticed immediately tom’s vintage Wingtip Shoes. he offered me the designer which happens to be “Kenneth Cole” and I really appreciated the fine detail on these puppies. Tom had a real laid back look he built around these Blazin Wingtips. Sunday wear in the City.. From his denim jeans , to the Purple corduroy collared shirt layered with a green button up wool sweater, and of coarse don’t forget his argyle socks and Ka-Boom….. The old School Ray-Ban Shades… Job well done Tommy.Hope you enjoy this next run of photos.  Here’s to 4 leaf clovers, Leprechauns, and Myself and Tommy finding that special pot of gold at the end of a Rainbow.      Enjoy!

Aerosmith Didn’t start playing until  1 o’clock in the morning!! 8,ooo people had to stay in the Civic Center until mid afternoon the next day because of this Blizzard that Rocked Western Ma.  WHAT A PARTY!!   Aerosmith opened with a song they composed in 1975 called ” SWEET EMOTION”.. A Beautiful Day in the City

...

Michael needed a break from blogging today so I jumped in and took over writing while he relaxed with Pud.

We decided to go into the City  today because it was such a beautiful Sunday, and living on the East coast we don’t know how many more days like today we will have this year. Anyway, one of our favorite places to visit when going to New York City is ButterLane. We love their cupcakes, they make them simple and delicious, not like all the places popping up everywhere that have a gazillion flavors and are the size of softballs. Not at ButterLane, they stick to traditional flavored cupcakes (chocolate, vanilla, and banana) with an array of flavored French and American frosting. After taking your first bite of these delicious little cakes you will taste the quality of the local ingredients. You can find ButterLane in the East Village 123 East 7th St between Avenue A and First Ave. My personal favorite is a banana cake with maple pecan frosting….yum!!! They even deliver and offer baking classes!

...

After spending the morning eating cupcakes and drinking coffee, we started to explore. First stop was Chelsea’s Market, we sat there for a bit and people watched, that’s one of my favorite things to do. People, especially people in New York can be so interesting to watch. It’s fun to see how they express themselves through clothing and fashion. Hey that’s a good idea for a future blog topic: Style through the faces of New York City.

Here are some pictures of me in the city today. My whole outfit is from Rugby…I wore a sleeveless turtleneck sweater with my favorite boyfriend jeans and a wool coat with red piping. To finish off the outfit, I wore a pair of red eel skinned heels,… the price I pay for fashion…lol…my feet were throbbing when I took them off at home, but they are totally worth it!

GROWING UP TOGETHER…..

I spent the day in my favorite outfit…. Sweatpants , and a Grey Russell sweatshirt..Elena and I did allot of household chores all day.. thought it would be fun to recap The last year of our lives.. Funny to look back and see how our style has changed.. Actually  it’s like a cool photo journal.. My friend alway’s says” Make Everyday A Masterpiece”  I can’t agree with him more..

......

Our journey together begins.. This was the nicest day of the whole summer.. August 28, 2010.

...

LOL LOL..Pudster as a young buck. Elena was taking him for his first check up.. he was so little.. God I love him. He’s actually real good in the car. October, 2010

...

I took this photo of Elena In Rome at the Hassler Hotel. It sits on top of the Spanish Steps, and the view is fantastic, I highly recommend staying here once in your lifetime. My wife was mapping out our daily exploring threw the city as she did every day during our stay..

...

I was screwing around in the morning in Milan when my wife snapped this photo. The glasses I’m wearing are real..my eyes aren’t what the used to be..we were at the Hotel Baglioni. it was small and quaint. ‘ Lino’ was the concierge, who treated us like family.

...

LOL I remember taking this photo at a Museum in Milan which my wife dragged me too..I got hollered at for taking this photo of her by the security guard on duty..I love how the flooring is reflecting in her sun-glass lens. It gives her depth, in an artistic way.

...

I love this dress, She finished it with a Louis Vuitton scarf  she tied around her neck, and a classic Ralph Lauren belt. I thought her eye make up came out great..

...

Me and the Pudster chilling out on a Sunday afternoon..He still sleeps between my legs, Puddy loves to be cozy.. look how little he was..

..

Elena taking a break in Rome. We walked so much every day it was awesome. Italians think nothing of walking 8 to 10 miles a day.. you should see the Italian females walk on cobble stone streets in high heels..

...

I thought this dish was a work of art.I found this little hole in the wall restaurant in Venice, I knew by the linens and mill work inside it was going to be good..Come to find out it was Michelin rated with 3 diamonds.Food was spectacular..

..

Pudster was really clumsy when he was at this age and now I know why, His hands and feet were too big for his little body. I think he was 14 or 15 weeks old in this photo. We had to get rid of that bed. He thought it was a girl bulldog.. He loved that damn bed.

...

My wife window shopping in Milan..I like the stripes on stripes . Also like the lighting in this shot. Her eyes are telling a story.Which one I’m not sure..

...

I purchased this leather jacket and scarf in Tuscany. It’s funny looking back seeing how my style continues to evolve as I mature and Grow as a man. I’m gonna distress this jacket soon

...

Elena took this photo in Venice, she loved the Italian Flags painted on the boat.. Go figure right!!

...

I remember taking this photo.. we were leaving Milan for Venice and she just finished packing.. We learned so much on how to travel by making mistakes on over packing. That’s why it’s important to make sure your wardrobe is interchangeable.. happy wife, Happy life

...

puddy rockin his new Ralph Lauren Flannel.. Not so little anymore.. I bought that shirt at the children’s Ralph Lauren store and had it customized to fit his shape..he’s already outgrown it..

...

Great photo of Elena and Pudster, I love when my wife wears a Bow-Tie, It’s something not every female can get away with.

...

I made my wife get up @ 445am and come to the gym with me.. I was going to do a blog on exercise, but never made it to the page. I wear allot of Nike and Under Armour. You can’t kill this stuff. It lasts forever. Elena insisted I post this today, 445am is not agood time of day for my wife. She got up and never complained because she knew it was important to me.. we came across this photo and both started laughing

...

LOL .More Pudster  rockin Ralph Lauren. he actually enjoys dressing up.

...

just a random picture of me in my pajamas, I was writing a post for the blog.

...

This is a great picture.. It’s when i first started wearing a bandanna for a neck-tie. Something I would of never done a year ago. My confidence continues to grow as I mature, and I’m not as concerned what anybody else thinks as much anymore.. a real stepping stone in my journey.

..

This is a great Photo of Puddy after he got home from this check up from the vet. We took this shot last week sometime. He is as healthy as a horse. 62lbs and still growing.

Roger Daltry formed a band called “THE WHO” in 1964. he grabbed Pete Townsend, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon  4 kids following they’re passion to play music. 100 million records sold later, this band is still getting it done!! “JOIN TOGETHER ” was released in 1972 and is one of my favorite songs they recorded. when you listen to Join Together today, sing this verse with Roger Daltry   It goes something like this

When you hear this sound a- coming

hear the drummer drumming

won’t you join together with the band

THE 5 DAY DENIM RUN…………

Before I even get started, Myself, Elena, and of coarse Pudster would like to personally thank all of you who are following our Blog….It makes the hard work we do worth it!! I’m gonna fill everybody In on a little secret. The beginning when John Raymond presented me with this Idea about a fashion Blog I thought about money. Hey, I enjoy creating income just like the next Guy or Girl does. Something happened about 2 weeks into our fashion Four Men journey. This isn’t about money or income anymore. It’s about “PASSION”. We have already had 2 different small companies want to pay us for advertisement space on our page. I refused immediately… Why?? because I want Fashion Four Men to represent something far greater than money. It represents a personal journey in a humble kinda way. I believe we all come threw this earth only once. This blog is a reflection of Elena , Pudster, and Myself doing something to better ourselves and in doing so we are creating something nice for people to read  and  hopefully get inspired by our take on a good healthy fashionable lifestyle. I already can spell better and my vocabulary has improved immensely..It’s allot of hard work but the rewards the 3 of us are receiving is wonderful. Please start leaving comments so we can make our journey together better. There is always room for improvement in all aspects of life, and we want to give you our very best.

Okay, today’s blog is just a recap of my 5 day denim run. i did rock my jeans 1 more day. My last day wearing them was a real distressed look day. I started with my 1940′s original vintage ivy cap I purchased on Bleeker Street in NYC. at the RRL store. The Grey shirt is made by Tom Ford, The tie and charcoal vest is made by Ralph Lauren. My rounded light brown wingtip shoe boots and light brown belt are made by RRL. By now you should know who made the Denim Jeans.. Magic Man” Alex Davranov” who works at the JEAN SHOP in NYC. Alex also did my Leather Jacket I’m wearing which I also purchased at  the JEAN SHOP.The next run of photos will refresh your memory of how I made 5 different looks wearing the same pair of Jeans. Hope this inspired you to try something new and get in touch with your own creative side. hope you like it.. Leave a comment and tell us what you think. Enjoy
